About This Course

This session will introduce strategies and activities to assist physical educators with developing lesson plans that integrate social and personal competencies into their programs and develop a safe place for their students to grow and learn. Cooperative learning, TPSR framework and role playing will be introduced as evidence based strategies. Simple tips will also be provided to get you started.

Kat Satterly and Lisa Perry - Alliance for a Healthier Generation

Kathleen Satterley-was a Health and PE teacher who taught in NY and Miami for 18 yrs. She then became a District Administrator in Washington DC overseeing teacher performance and growth in the office of Human Capital. Currently working for the Alliance for a Healthier Generation as a Program Manager, Kat applies her additional background in psychology, emotional intelligence and life coaching skills to her work in social emotional health with Healthier Generation's RISE initiative. Kat also dabbles in small business including ventures in children's entertainment, film production, sports camps and her own consulting business. Lisa Perry-With experience from classroom and physical education teaching, overseeing health and physical education at the state level and providing expertise as the Senior National Advisor for the Alliance for a Healthier Education, Lisa has integrated social emotional learning into physical education for more than three decades. In her current position, she provides resources and trainings to help physical educators make the connection between SEL and their current instruction. Outside of work, Lisa has learned to utilize her SEL skills as she gentles wild mustangs and finds loving homes for them.
